Lee and Jaci Murphy went to the village board of trustees work session on Monday evening to report that the fence in the rear of their property on Hudson Street had been vandalized two times. A section of the fence had been broken out and was lying on the ground.
Jaci Murphy says that she discovered the damage Monday morning at 7 a.m. Each repair to the fence costs $100, according to the Murphys. They are asking that the police try to apprehend those responsible for the damage to the fence.
The Murphys also alerted the board to a streetlight that has been out for nearly two weeks at the pedestrian crosswalk at Avenue A and Hudson Street. They said repeated calls to Central Hudson had not gotten results. Deputy mayor Rudy Hahn said he would call the power company, which prompted David Halvorson, the acting head of the department of public works, to comment that usually citizens have more success getting lights repaired than the village does.
