Richard Randazzo looked back over his twenty years in office on Monday night as he presided over his last town board meeting as supervisor, a period in office that he said was both challenging and rewarding.
He admitted that on January 1st, when Kevin Quigley takes over the office, he will look back and say he misses the job. "I love the job and I love the community,” Randazzo said, noting that he is a third-generation resident of the town who grew up playing next door in the park.
He also acknowledged the support of all the town employees and board members who made it possible to run the government efficiently.
Randazzo said when he re-entered the supervisor’s office four years ago, he jumped in with both feet to straighten out the mess that had been left by the previous administration. “We’re all proud of the fact that everything we have done has resulted in upgrading by Moody’s (Investor Service) from an A-2 to an A-1 rating,” Randazzo said in his remarks.
One accomplishment that he said was particularly important to him was the adoption of a comprehensive master plan in 2005 that helped to maintain the character of the community.
Earlier town board member Al Mazzocca read a statement praising Randazzo’s leadership, especially his efforts to bring the town budget under control.
