General News: Grant Money for Town & Village

November 15, 2007

The town and village will be getting a $20,000 municipal planning grant from Orange County, according to Cornwall town supervisor Richard Randazzo.

Randazzo said that the town and the village filed a joint application for a grant to enhance local business districts and intend to share the money equally on projects to be determined.

Another $5,000 grant came from the office of New York State Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun, Randazzo said.   This money is earmarked for gazebo improvement – either for the one in the village square or for the newer one built at the riverfront in Donahue Memorial park.

WHY DON'T YOU BUILD A SKATEPARK FOR THE KIDS? THAT WAY THEY WILL STOP LOITERING IN FRONT OF YOUR BUSINESSES, I WILL GLADLY RUN IT AND HELP WITH FUNDRAISING TO KEEP IT RUNNING...

I have to agree with the idea of bringing the skate park back. When looking at cities there are community centers places for kids to go: be around other kids teaches socialization as well as keeping them out of trouble and off the streets. Let's give these kids a place to go and have an outlet of their energy allowing them to be more focused where needed, at school, with friends and family and well having fun which is what kids should be able to do w/o being told they are loitering.

I'll volunteer time to help out with supervision, and with fundraising also. Let's build a skatepark!
