General News: Teen Seriously Injured in Route 32 Accident
October 15, 2007
An 18-year-old male from New WIndsor was injured Monday evening when the vehicle he was driving hit a pole on Route 32 near the veterinary hospital.
Cornwall police chief Todd Hazard said the driver, Jermane Gonzalez, lost control of his Chevrolet Trail Blazer shortly after 6 p.m. while headed north on Route 32. Numerous calls immediately came into the police department regarding a serious accident on Route 32, Hazard said.
It appeared that the vehicle went airborne, police said, and as it started to roll it struck the utility pole with such force that it was "embedded." Chief Hazard noted that it took the Cornwall Fire Department about an hour to extricate the driver from the vehicle.
Gonzalez was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.
