General News: Village Committee Gets New Member
October 10, 2007
The citizens committee formed to study traffic flow and parking in the village business district has a new member. On Monday evening, the village board approved the offer by businessman Tony Missere, co-owner of The River Bank restaurant, to join the committee.
Missere, whose construction of a patio that extends into River Avenue ignited a public debate on village parking issues, was the only business owner to step forward so far. Village mayor Joe Gross said that he sent letters to twenty or so businesses inviting them to participate and noted that the committee would welcome any others who wish to offer their services.
The committee has met once and a second meeting is set for Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Village Hall.
Committee member Barbara Gosda reports that topics discussed at the committee’s first meeting were whether NYSDOT has done a traffic study of Route 218, what information a consultant would provide, and the status of the lining of the municipal lot. Committee member Rick Gioia also did a presentation of photos of business and street signs.
Barbara Gosda is also coordinating this Saturday’s village-wide yard sale and she says that it is not too late to sign up if you have items to sell. Call the village office at 534-4200 for details.
