General News: Donate to Benefit Wounded Soldiers
January 16, 2007
As the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq go on, the number of wounded U.S. soldiers mounts. Now, members of Cornwall's St. John's Episcopal Church are asking for donations of personal items for the sick, injured or wounded soldiers who arrive in military hospitals with nothing but their uniforms.
St. John's outreach project will send donations gathered in Cornwall to the Landstuhl Hospital Care Project, which ships items to that hospital in Germany and to field hospitals in Afghanistan and Iraq. St. John's outreach committee is asking for donations to be dropped off at the church, which is located at the corner of Clinton and Hazen Streets, by February 11th. Parish office hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm or during Sunday services from 7:45am til noon.
Supplies to BUY include:
flip-flops
long sleeve t-shirts (no writing or logos)
soft toothbrushes
break a way pants
dark colored wash clothes and hand towels
sweat shirts (no logos, no writing)

Supplies to MAKE include:

MONETARY donations are welcome: Please make out checks to "Landstuhl Hospital Care Project" (write "From St. John's, Cornwall NY" on memo line). There is a collection box for supplies and monetary donations in the cloister.
Supplies and hand-crafted items can be contributed after February 11, but the group mails out supplies towards the end of each month. Therefore, we need to send our contributions by mid-month.
