General News: Joseph Gross Announces Plan to Run for Mayor
January 08, 2007
Joseph J. Gross, 53, a life-long resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson, has officially announced that he will be getting into the race for village mayor.
Elections will be held on March 20, 2007. Two village trustees, Mark Edsall and William Fogerty, are up for election in addition to Mayor Ed Moulton, who has held the office since 1981. Local resident Rick Gioia is gathering signatures on a petition to have his name on the ballet as a candidate for trustee in the election as well.
In a letter to friends and to the general public (read full text in Letters to the Editor), Gross points to the need to create “a fine balance among preservaton, conservation, development, and change.” He also calls for an “honest dialogue about what makes Cornwall-on-Hudson unique.”
Gross served on the village planning board for more than a decade and regularly attends village board of trustee meetings, as well as other meetings where the public is invited to share ideas about the future of the village, such as the Master Plan Committee and the Riverfront Revitalization Committee.
