SAVE THE DATE! Orange County Open Studio Tours in October!
SAVE THE DATES!

This year’s Orange County Open Studio Tour is bigger and better than ever! Over 75 artists are participating this year and the schedule is as follows:

October 10th and 11th will include the areas of Port Jervis, Huguenot, Cuddebackville, Otisville, Middletown, Westtown and Slate Hill.
October 17th and 18th will cover the areas of Pine Bush, Walden, Montgomery, Washingtonville, Rock Tavern, and Salisbury Mills.
October 24th and 25th will include the areas of Warwick, Greenwood Lake, Tuxedo, Harriman, Monroe, Sugar Loaf, Chester, Goshen, Florida, and Pine Island.
October 31st and November 1st will include the areas of Newburgh, Vails Gate, Cornwall, Cornwall-on-Hudson, Highland Mills, Central Valley, and Highland Falls.
The Open Studio Tour gives the public a chance meet the Orange County Arts Community and to talk to the artists about their work. People who take the tour will discover fascinating studios – everything from the basement art studio to the professional atelier. Some are elegant showrooms, others resemble a mad scientist’s laboratory, and still others are homey spaces where you feel inspired almost immediately.

Orange County artists and arts organizations are invited to open their doors to the public and engage in thought-provoking discussion with the community about the creative process. The Open Studio Tour provides a rare opportunity for the public to observe working artists, to talk to them about their work, to see artwork that might not ever be seen otherwise, and to explore their own creativity. Each artist will be available from 11am-5pm on both days of their respective weekend within their own studio, in a shared studio with other artists, or in a HUB location where several artists will be demonstrating.

"This year we have a team of artists representing all sections of the county that have been working together to publicize the event to a broader area and encourage greater participation from the public" said Studio Tour committee chair Janet Howard-Fatta. "They are creating T-shirts, coordinating restaurant exhibits, offering incentives for visiting more studios and hosting a kick off Distribution party for marketing materials."

Every participating artist will be featured in a full-color Studio Tour booklet with images of each artist’s work, a physical address of their location, their contact information and a brief description of their art. The booklet will also contain information on how to access maps and directions through the Arts Council’s website. Over three thousand booklets will be distributed throughout the county and beyond in galleries, hotels, B&Bs, businesses, eateries, art organizations, tourist information centers, libraries and at the Orange County Arts Council offices.

The Open Studio Tour opens up the world of artists to everyone – from students to the seasoned collector to the first-time art buyer to the curious general public.

Booklets for this free self-guided tour will be available in September. For more information about this event or to find out how to become more involved with the Arts Council, please call 845-469-9168 or email [email protected].

The Orange County Arts Council’s mission is to champion the arts, connect artists with audiences and foster the growth of the county’s creative resources.
