General News: Notes from the Village Board Meeting

Notes from the Village Board Meeting
Concerned business owners, a commercial shoot, and a public MS4 hearing.

CORNWALL-ON-THE-HUDSON, NY – On Monday, March 16th, the monthly Village Board Meeting was held with a small crowd.

After Mayor Coyne opened the floor for public comment, concerned business owners stepped forward. A letter was written and signed by multiple business owners of Hudson St., and it was read aloud.

This winter has been a particularly bad one, and it has resulted in many roadside parking spaces becoming unusable due to the snow pileup. Without available parking many owners have seen their business decrease. The owners have asked the board if there is anything that they, as owners, could do in the future to prevent the loss of these essential parking spaces.

The Mayor stated that he had talked to many local and state officials about the issue and he has been given multiple answers. The state is responsible for the plowing of Hudson Street. However, it is unclear if they are also responsible for the roadside parking spaces. Both Business Owners and the Village Board hope that they can come to a solution by the next winter season and prevent future business loss.

Mercedes Benz will be shooting a commercial at the Village Firehouse on April 3rd. If need be, traffic may be redirected, so expect some delays during the day.

The board would like to extend an invitation to the MS4, the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, Public Hearing on Monday, April 20th, at 7pm.

There will be a presentation held at the Orange County Citizens Foundation on April 30th. The presentation will be about consolidation; Regionalism versus Localism.
