Orange County Arts Council presents High School Arts Celebration

Sugar Loaf, NY –The Orange County Arts Council is proud to host the All-County High School Arts Celebration in the Lower Level Center Court at the Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown on Saturday, February 27th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

This Arts Celebration combines both visual arts and performing arts. Eight high schools will be singing, dancing and strutting their stuff as they share a small sample of their upcoming spring musicals and fifteen high schools will be showing off their talented visual artists with each other and the general public during this all day art celebration. Dawn Ansbro, Executive Director for the Orange County Arts Council, said “The county-wide student art shows sponsored by the Arts Council have been a great success. We have more schools participating this year than ever before. It is a wonderful opportunity for the students to see each other’s work and for the public to understand how important our school arts programs are for our children. All of these students are so talented – and it’s great to see that talent and creativity all brought together in one place.”

Cornwall High School will be performing numbers from their upcoming musical “The Wiz”. Port Jervis High School students will be singing and dancing their way through songs from the musical “Into The Woods”. Valley Central High School will be showing off its unique version of the classic musical ”Guys and Dolls”. Newburgh Free Academy will be performing pieces from the hit Broadway musical “Nice Work If You Can Get It”. John S. Burke Catholic High School will be performing songs from “Seussical The Musical”. Warwick Valley High School will be getting its Elvis on with the musical “All Shook Up”. Washingtonville High School will be showcasing their talents in the musical “Once Upon A Mattress” and Middletown High School will be making us yearn for warmer weather with their version of the musical “South Pacific”. The sound system and equipment has been generously donated by Alto Music and Tom Cunane, the Art Department Chair and Music Teacher from James O’Neill High School, will be the sound engineer for the day.

The high schools that will be providing visual art for this event are James I. O’Neill High School in Highland Falls, John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen, Middletown High School, Monroe-Woodbury High School, Orange-Ulster BOCES in Goshen, John A. Flannery High School in Goshen, Chester Academy, Valley Central High School, Washingtonville High School, Minisink High School, Newburgh Free Academy, Cornwall High School, Warwick Valley High School, Port Jervis High School and  Wallkill High School.
