Obituaries: Thomas Richard Trainor

Thomas Richard Trainor of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on August 21, 2014 at his home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. He was 91 years old.
The son of William A. and Mary F. Trainor, Tom was born on November 28, 1922 in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Tom attended a vocational institute on Lake Ontario, where he studied drafting, blue prints and woodworking. He was Deputy of Student Affairs at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY until his retirement, at which time he opened Butterhill Antiques of Cornwall-on-Hudson and remained there until 2010.
Tom honorably served his country as member of the the Construction Battalion in the U.S. Navy.
He was a Trustee for the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson in the 1970s.
Of Tom, it is said that he had strong convictions but remained humble. Tom had a great capacity for love and was a faithful and devoted friend to many. His companionship, dry humor and wit will be greatly missed. He was a friend of Bill W.
Tom is survived by his brother, Joseph Trainor of Cornwall-on-Hudson and four nephews: William and Christopher Trainor of Rock Tavern, NY, William and Michael Trainor of Cornwall-on-Hudson; three grand nephews: Christopher, Jr., Thomas Trainor of Cornwall-on-Hudson; and one grand niece, Jaclyn M. Trainor. Tom is also survived by his adopted son, Herman Leonhardes .
Tom is predeceased by his wife, Evelyn L. Trainor; brother, William Trainor and his wife, Elsie Lorraine Trainor; twin sister, Catherine M. Trainor; nephew Joseph K. Trainor; and niece, Roseannne E. Trainor.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 24th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, August 25th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St. in Cornwall-On-Hudson. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
