Geraldine Cocchiara, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2014 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital Newburgh. She was 76 years old.
The daughter of George Krosunger and Ruby Gredel, Geraldine was born on March 28, 1938 in Nemacolin, PA.
Geraldine Cocchiara was an Insurance Sales representative for Sheridan Associates in Pearl River, NY.
She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Windsor NY.
Geradine was born March 28, 1938 in Nemacolin, PA. She moved to New York City and worked for ConEdison where she met and married the love of her life, Anthony Cocchiara. They moved to Nanuet, NY where they lived for many years raising their family. Geraldine worked as an insurance agent in her later career, working for several independent agents, retiring from Sheridan and Associates of Pearl River, NY.
After retiring, Geraldine and Anthony moved to Cornwall where they spent the last several years with new friends and visiting with long time friends that they met along their long happy life together.
Geraldine loved vacationing, going to Ixtapa, Mexico for many years and Newport, RI with Anthony. They went on many cruises, and traveled extensively. Geraldine also loved to play cards, playing card games with family or the card group where she lived. She played bingo several times a week. She was loved by everyone who knew her and she was always the life of the party.
Geraldine is survived by her daughters: Dina Gage and her husband, Kevin of Hurley, NY and Toni Gallagher and David Ambrosini of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY; her brother, Peter Krosunger of Rices Landing PA; sisters: Nancy Baily of Carmichael, PA and Jeanne Ventresca of San Jose, CA; granddaughter, Amanda Horan of Monroe, NY and great grandson, Oakley Anthony. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Cocchiara, as well as by a brother and sister, Gloria Broadwater and George Krosunger.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY 12520. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rte. 9W & Union Ave., New Windsor, NY; Fr. Dennis Dinan will officiate. Burial will follow in the Orange County Veteran's Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
