Alma St. John, of New Windsor NY entered into eternal rest on Mar. 25 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital; she was 89 years old.
The daughter of Milton Anna Berard, Alma was born on May 9, 1924 in Bennington, VT. Mrs. St. John was retired Sewing machine operator with Ideal Garment Company in Newburgh NY.
She was an active member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and volunteered at Castle Point Veteran Hospital.
A family statement reads: Alma was affectionately known as the "Cupcake Lady "She loved to Crochet butterflies, baby blankets and a variety of others. Alma was happiest when she was giving to others through her handmade items. Her family would like to thank the Bethlehem Presbyterian church for their support during her illness, as well Dr. Rival, her home care she received from Will-Care's nurses Andre and Theresa and aides especially "Cruze". She will be missed greatly.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Diane Antunovich at home; niece, Marie Gilk of Arizona; nephews: Milton Madonia of Wallkill, Frank and Angelo Madonia both of Arizona, Kenneth Madonia of California and a cousin, Frances Miller of Texas; and several great nieces and nephews.
Alma was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Clarence St. John; also brothers Vilmore and Lewis Berard and sister Margaret Madonia.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall, NY 12520. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 28th at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Rte-94 and Jackson Ave., Salisbury Mills, NY; Pastor Paul Min will officiate. Entombment will take place following the service at Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Newburgh NY.
Contributions may be made in Alma's name to American Cancer Society or SPCA-New Windsor NY.
