Obituaries: Svea L. Indzonka

Svea L. Indzonka, age 87, of Walden, NY passed away at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York, on Friday, September 27, 2013.

Born Svea Linnea Erikson in Bryn Mawr, PA on September 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Walter K. and Fanny (Sjoblom) Erikson. She graduated from Audubon, NJ High School in 1944. She then attended West Chester State College and graduated with a B.S. in Music Education in 1948. She attended graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and State University of New York at New Paltz. She was employed as an elementary school teacher in Waterford NJ, Collingswood NJ and at the Balmville Elementary School in Newburgh NY.

On April 28, 1956, she married Dr. Francis W. Indzonka of Newburgh, NY. She retired from teaching to raise her three sons. She was also employed as a sales associate at Kahn Realty and Century 21 of Walden, NY. She was a member of The New York State Federated Women's Club and The Garden Club of Marlborough, NY. She was an accomplished artist and her oil paintings were displayed at many local art shows.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Francis W. Indzonka; and three sons: Dr. Peter F. Indzonka, his wife, Christine and their son, Kevin of Albany, NY; Dr. Mark F. Indzonka, his wife, Laura and their children: Jack, Joseph, Larissa, Benjamin and Linnea of Stroudsburg, PA, Erik F. Indzonka Esq., his wife, Michele and their sons: Douglas and Andrew of New Windsor, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter K. and Fanny Erikson and a sister, Marion Krevitz.

A Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2nd at The Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson NY 12520. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 3rd at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Newburgh. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor.
