John D. Freitas, age 78, of the Town of Newburgh, NY passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. Married to Loretta T. Geissler Freitas who survives at home; he was a retired School Teacher with Cornwall Central School District at Cornwall-On-Hudson Elementary School for 43 years.
John was the son of John Freitas and Lillian Mallalieu Freitas, born on January 10, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Mallalieu Freitas at home; sons: Barry Freitas of Spring Valley, NY, Jonathan Freitas and his wife, Anne Marie of Walden, NY and Brian Freitas of Newburgh, NY; daughters: Lilly Freitas of Newburgh and Loretta Freitas Decker and her fiance, Craig Profiro; grandchildren: David Freitas and wife, Erica, Karen Kolb, Rachel and Rebekah Freitas, Danielle and Edward Henwood, Paul Decker and his wife, Sherry and Amy Decker and her fiance, Karl Ackerman; also great grandchildren: Daniel and Arianna Decker. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel Paul Freitas.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson, St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY 12520. The Funeral Service will be private. Cremation will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
