Lakeville Iron Trail Hike at Sterling Forest
On Saturday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum invites adults and children age 12 and older to hike the Lakeville Iron Trail at Sterling Forest with Doc Bayne, a regionally recognized naturalist and historian. Come learn about the first iron industry in NY State (1736-1923) where the great chain at West Point was made. Visit historic locations including where the miners lived and worked. This is a moderate hike with one steep section. Wear appropriate foot gear, bring water and a bag lunch. Meet at Sterling Forest Visitors Center. Heavy rain cancels the hike, listen to the recording at 845-534-5506. Pre-paid registration is required. Admission: $7, Museum Members: $5.
