Obituaries: Francis J. Stagliano

Francis J. Stagliano of Rock Tavern, NY, formerly of Cornwall, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, March 24, 2013. He was 74.
The son of Jane Williams Stagliano and the late Nicholas C. Stagliano, he was born on December 30, 1938 in Cornwall, NY.
Francis graduated from Cornwall High School, Class of 1958. He then joined the Naval Reserves and served six years. Two of them were active duty, when he served on a heavy cruiser, the US Newport News CA148 6th fleet, visiting over twelve countries. He went on to get his associates degree from Bergen County College, where he developed an interest in world history.
Francis retired from the federal government at West Point after 35 years of service.
Survivors include: his mother, Jane; brothers Nicholas Stagliano, John Stagliano and Michael Stagliano; sisters Mary Jane Shaw and Kathleen Weir; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27 at 9:30 am at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’ memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
