Peter L. Ransom, 88, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Cornwall, NY, passed away March 4, 2013 at Myrtle, SC. Born December 9, 1924 in Wysox, PA to Peter Ransom and Mary Lyn Ransom.
He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. He worked tirelessly for Cornwall Little League from 1960-1983. He was Superintendant of Buildings and Grounds with the Town of Cornwall, NY, retiring in 1991.
He was married to Beatrice Schofield Ransom, at home .
Survivors include his sons: Gregory Ransom and his wife, Lori of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY and Lee Ransom of Boynton Beach, FL; grandchildren: Sara Ransom, Paige Ransom and Candace Ransom. Peter was predeceased by his 1st wife, Eleanor Coutant Ransom, who passed in 1980.
A family statement reads: He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
There will be no public visitation.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9th at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor NY. There will be a Celebration of Peter's Life at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9th at Cornwall Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Patricia Calahan at 222 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520.
