Obituaries: Elaine (Siegel) Selesnick

Our beloved Elaine (Siegel) Selesnick, of Newburgh, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, went into rest on Friday, February 1, 2013, surrounded by her family and devoted husband, Stanley, whom recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Elaine was the daughter of the late Gustav and Anna Levy Siegel.
Dr. Elaine, as she liked to be called, had an extensive and interesting career. She had a private practice of Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy in Newburgh, NY. Also, on staff at New York University Medical Center, Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Program, Staff at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY, Supervisor for a comprehensive Sex Therapy Training Program for Physicians and Health professionals at New York Medical College, and Assistant Clinical Instructor, Family Medicine Residency program at New York Medical College.
Elaine lectured at Orange County Community College, Dutchess County Community College, State University of New York at New Paltz campus, Orange County Department of Health. She consulted with Cosmopolitan Magazine and other National magazines.
Her education and clinical training was a B.S. degree was from New York University, Masters Degree from New School of Social Research, PhD from Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, Dissertation Committee chairman: Dr. Wardell Pomeroy, co-author of Kinsey Reports, New York Medical College: two year clinical fellowship, Department of Psychiatry, Masters and Johnson Institute clinical training.
Her certifications and professional organizations were abundant such as: AASECT: American Association of Sex Therapists, Educators and Counselors, past President, ACS: Diplomat, American College of Sexology, FAACS: Clinical Fellow, American Academy of Clinical Sexologists, SSTAR: Society of Sex Therapy and Research, SSSS: Society of Scientific Study of Sex, SEICUS: Sex Education and Information Council of the U.S. and Past President, Alliance to the Medical Society of Orange County.
In addition to her husband, Dr. Stanley Z. Selesnick, she leaves behind her children: Dr. F. Harlan and Randy Selesnick of Miami, FL and Dr. Fern Selesnick and Sheldon W. Frisch of Marblehead, MA. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren: Kelly Selesnick, Genna Selesnick, Gavin Frisch and Skylar Frisch. She leaves behind her very much admired Aunt Evelyn of Marlboro, NY and a sister-in-law, Florence Selesnick of Coconut Creek, FL. There are many friends, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins she adored. She was sister to the late Joan Goldstein and daughter of Anna and Gustave Siegel of Newburgh, NY.
Elaine enjoyed theatre, arts and museums. In addition to her academic achievements she was an accomplished painter and sculptor. She especially loved her views of the Hudson River and Atlantic Ocean depending on the season.

Funeral services are being held at Congregation Agudus Israel, 290 North Street, Newburgh, NY at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2013. Entombment to follow at Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
