David Holstein, of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into rest Friday, February 1, 2013 at St.Lukes-Cornwall Hospital/Newburgh Campus. He was 78.
The son of the late Morris and Esther Holstein, he was born April 9, 1934 in the Bronx.
David enjoyed a very successful career with IBM beginning in 1959 at its Endicott facility working on top secret US government technology programs within their Federal Systems Division (FSD). He quickly moved into significant Executive Director positions within the Advanced Systems Division (ASD), Office Products Division (OPD), General Business Group Division (GBG) and upon his early retirement in 1986 as Vice President within IBM’s Entry Systems Division (ESD) which manufactured the IBM personal computers, later sold to Lenovo Inc.
After a year of returning back to school to acquire his post masters graduate certification in psychotherapy and counseling, David opened The Hudson Center in Cornwall on Hudson, NY, helping people across a wide range of family systems support and psychotherapy counseling services. He also served on the board of Mount St. Mary’s College and was board President of Cornwall Schools and was a Eucharistic minister.
Survivors include his loving wife Anita Morell Holstein of 55 years at home, daughter: Carrie Addessi and her husband Richard of Tappan, NY, son; Christopher Holstein of Cornwall on Hudson, brother; Solon Holstein of CA, sister; Sharon Fingerhut of NC., grandchildren; Tina D’Amico, Salvatore D’Amico both of Valley Cottage, NY and Jake Addessi of Tappan, NY. David was predeceased by his eldest son Gregory Holstein, in 2010.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Monday, February 4, 2013 from 4 -8 p.m. at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall on Hudson, NY.
Funeral Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Thomas of Canterbury, Cornwall on Hudson, NY. Burial to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
