Obituaries: Joseph F. McGrath

  Joseph F. McGrath, Jr. of New Windsor, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 72.
The son of the late Joseph F. and Alice Jevens McGrath, Sr. he was born on February 10, 1940 in Highland Falls, NY.
Joe was a retired truck driver for Teamsters Local 445 and drove for Red Star, Shop Rite and Holmes Transportation. He was a resident of the area for most of his life. He was born to drive tractor trailers, and loved driving Mack trucks and restoring old cars.
Joe was a very special person who would do anything for anyone. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving family: son, Joseph F. McGrath, III and wife Tonya of Wallkill, NY; daughter, Deborah Younes and husband Mark of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters: Alice and husband LTC (Ret.) Elmer Birdseye of Williamsburg, VA, and Elizabeth Castro of Columbus, GA; sisters-in-law: Ann Fry of New Windsor, NY and Barbara Rairigh and husband Clay of Walden, NY; brother-in-law Robert Ochsen and wife Marion of LaVergne, TN; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie Ochsen McGrath and brother, Patrick McGrath.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the American Lung Assoc. National Headquarters, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
