William Edward "Bill" Fulton |
January 17, 2013
William Edward "Bill" Fulton of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, entered his heavenly home on January 14, 2013. He was 83.
The son of the late Ray P. and Marion O’Neil Fulton, he was born on July 8, 1929 in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. He was married to Colette Corwin Fulton.
Bill served in the U.S, Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Cornwall American Legion Post 353, having served as Commander and Boys State Staff.
A founder of the Cornwall Continentals, he was a reenactor with the 3rd N.Y. Reg. Revolutionary War soldiers in his younger days, and a life member of the NRA. He was also a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, the National Temple Hill Assoc., the Orange County Historical Society, the Cornwall Historical Society, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
A retired teacher from Dutchess County BOCES, Bill arranged the construction of the Cornwall-on-Hudson Bandstand, built by the BOCES students to celebrate the Village Centennial in 1985.
He loved the community in which he was born and raised, and was a constant companion of his wife, Colette, during their 57 years together.
Bill and Colette had many happy years, touring the west with The Zane Grey West Society and the endearing friends of the organization. They loved recalling their 50th anniversary trip to Ireland with the Cornwall Recreation Dept., and looked forward to their September trips to Wildwood, N.J. When he was able, they were volunteer gardeners at Constitution Island.
Everyone who knew Bill loved his gentle kindness, his dry humor, and his Irish smile. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his wife, Colette, at home: their loving children; Raymond, Kathleen (Craig) Davidson, Karin (Douglas) Caufaglione, and Ryan: grandchildren; Raymond Fulton, Elizabeth Davidson, Grant Davidson, Johanna Caufaglione, Liam Caufaglione and Joshua Caufaglione: nephews Karl and Gary Lehr: cousin Joan Gleason and several grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marion McDonal and Aileen Lehr, his nephew Elvin E. McDonal, and his brother Fred Weber.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 4-6:30pm at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10am at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bill’s memory may be made to St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520.
Comments:
I had no idea my Dad was so popular. What a blessing and a surprise to see the record turn out at Lulves! I was blown away.
