Olga Marie Belmont, 88, a retired West Point employee and long-time resident of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY, died January 5, 2013 at Elant at Meadow Hill Nursing Home, Newburgh, NY.
Olga was born on February 27, 1924 in Gross Raden, Czechoslovakia to Josef Hanel and Olga (Stenke) Hanel. She came to the United States in 1952, and received her U.S. citizenship in 1955, in Buffalo, NY. As a military wife, she lived overseas in France and Germany, and stateside in Virginia and South Dakota, before settling in Cornwall-On-Hudson in 1969.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence P. Belmont (Retired U.S. Air Force), of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY; a son, Larry M. Belmont, of Blue Point, NY; and a sister, Herta Hanel, of Künzelsau, Germany. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Grete Schebeske; and five brothers, Alfred, Bruno, Josef, Rudolf, and Walter.
There will be no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St, Cornwall-On-Hudson. Burial is to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Mailler Ave, Cornwall, NY.
