Obituaries: Ruth Elizabeth Regitz Meissner

Ruth Elizabeth Regitz Meissner, age 90, of New Windsor, NY, passed from this life into heaven on December 23, 2012, after a short illness.

She was born in Vogelbach, Germany, December 14, 1922 and moved to New York City with her parents, Ludwig and Karolina Moll Regitz, and younger brother, Fred in 1928. She worked as an executive secretary and traveled to Germany after World War II to work for the US Army Headquarters.

Ruth met her husband, Sergeant Oscar Weldon Meissner in Paris, 1947. They were married in Heidelberg Germany in 1949. The couple was married for fifty-six years, with Oscar predeceasing her by seven years. They had three children: twins, Carol Meissner of Patterson, NY, and Barbara Meissner Campbell who resides in Ohio with her husband, Paul; and Paul Oscar Meissner and his wife, Deborah, residing in Newburgh, NY. There are seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Jennifer Campbell Wagner, (spouse, David Wagner, Cincinnati, OH, and three children: Mathias, Carolena, and Kenny); Holly Campbell Wilson (spouse, Matt Wilson, Dublin OH, son, Caleb); Karin Surdovel Ali (spouse, Naveed Ali, Patterson, NY, and three children: Nora, Ahsan, and Zayn); David Surdovel (spouse, Jennifer Hollins Surdovel, Round Rock, TX, children: Katelyn and Lucas); Emily Campbell, OH; Tyler Meissner serving in the U.S. Army, Hawaii, and Kyle Meissner, Newburgh, NY.

Ruth Meissner was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, New Windsor, NY. She lived a full and active life, loving the arts and traveling. She enjoyed reading, current events, watching tennis on TV, and good conversation. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends and relatives may call on Thursday December 27, 2012 at Quigley Bros Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520 from 3 to 5 p.m. Service will be on Friday 10:30 a.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 543 Union Ave., New Windsor, NY. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
