Elaine Tilford Schneer of Cornwall, entered into rest on Monday, August 20, 2012 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. She was 80.
Daughter of the late Robert L. Tilford and Elfrieda Ketcham Tilford, she was born on July 6, 1932 in Cornwall, NY.
She served the Town of Cornwall as Town Clerk for thirty-four years and as the Receiver of Taxes for five years prior.
Elaine was a member of the New York State Town Clerk’s Association, a member of the Cornwall Republican Committee, past president of the Cornwall Republican Club and a former member of Zonta International.
Elaine was a parishioner of Mountainville United Methodist Church, Mountainville. She was a past president of the Mountainville Engine Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She lived for her family and her three grandchildren and for her role in the Town as Town Clerk.
She is survived by her loving daughter Linda A. Zamenick and her husband Frederick F. Zamenick Jr. of New Windsor; three grandchildren Amy, Laura, and Michael Zamenick; cousins Leroy and Francis Wilson; life long best friend Vivien Adams and several cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 8/22/12 from 2- 4 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m. at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY 12520.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mountainville, NY.
