With over 60 million records sold worldwide, pop icon Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits is one of the most recognized voices of the legendary “British Invasion” music scene that brought him, The Beatles, The Kinks, and The Rolling Stones to American shores in the 1960’s. Now the Hudson Valley has a rare chance to hear the story of the British Invasion from “Herman” himself, as Mr. Noone comes to the Storm King School on 11/11/11 at 11:11 am for “Noone in the Morning.”
With hits like “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter,” “There’s A Kind of Hush,” “I’m Henry VIII” and “I’m Into Something Good,” Herman’s Hermits epitomized the sounds of a generation. But in addition to being the voice behind these songs, Mr. Noone is also well known as a star of stage and screen. In the 1980’s he stepped into the lead role of “Frederic” in Joseph Papp’s renowned revival of The Pirates of Penzance on Broadway and won rave reviews. His turns on TV as the host of VH1’s My Generation in the 1990’s and as a guest mentor for American Idol in 2007 have introduced him to new generations of fans.
Now Mr. Noone brings over 45 years of songs and stories to the Mountain for a special master class with the students of Frank Annunziata, head of the Storm King School’s Creative Arts Center. Mr. Annunziata is a rock star in his own right, having recorded and performed with such luminaries as Yoko Ono, Richie Havens, Denny Laine (Wings, Moody Blues) and of course, Mr. Noone. There will also be a Q & A session with the audience.
This private event for the students of the Storm King School is open to the general public, but reservations must be made in advance. The event will take place at The Walter Reade Jr. Theater on the Storm King School campus, 314 Mountain Road, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. There is no charge for this event.
Mr. Noone will also be playing the Paramount Theater in Peekskill that night at 8 PM with Herman’s Hermits and special guest Lou Christie.
