Charles E. Barnes of Edgewater, FL and formerly of Cornwall, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx. He was 92.
Charles served in the Infantry Division of the Army during WWII. He was wounded in Italy. He was also a Purple Heart recipient.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Barnes of Cornwall and Garry Barnes of Marlboro; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3 from 10 – 11am at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
Funeral services will be held following visitation at 11am at the funeral home.
Fr. Robert Hilfiker will officiate. Interment will follow in Orange Co. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations in Charles’ memory may be made to St, Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
