Obituaries: Raymond Francis Ebert

March 28, 2011

Raymond Francis Ebert of Cornwall, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011.  He was surround by his children and longtime companion Louise Mucci. He was 86.

He was born in Hammond, Indiana, October 1, 1924 the son of John and Lillian Ebert. He served in World War II with the U.S Merchant Marines. His life and times in the Merchant Marines were often shared with his children and grandchildren.

Ray was a retired Union Organizer for Teamsters Local 445, Newburgh and a Vice President for L.J. Kennedy Trucking, Kearney, New Jersey. He volunteered with Safe Homes of Orange County and was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2001.

He was predeceased by his wife Theresa Mary and daughters Judith Ann and Kathleen Mary, his sister Jean Mary and brother Lawrence.

Survivors include his son Ray, daughter in law Mary and their children Peter and Catherine, of Derwood, MD.; daughter Mary, son in law Jack Sise, and their children Katharine, Meghan and Jack, of Latham, NY; son Jerry, daughter-in-law Jeanette, and their children Leeann, Michael, Janelle and Alfie, and grandchildren Meghan and Joey, of Montgomery, NY; son John, daughter-in-law Bridget, and their daughter Patty Mary, of Monroe, NY; daughter Joan, son-in-law Jeff Miller, and their son Tom, of Delmar, NY; son Jim of Long Beach, CA; daughter Julie, son-in-law Mike Couch and their daughter Judy, of Wallace, NC; daughter JoAnn, son in law Douglas Parker, and their children Joseph, Christopher and Julia, of Cornwall, NY; son-in-law Neil Clark and grandchildren John and Jessica of Lexington, SC. son Edward, wife Josephina, and their children Eduardo and Luis, of Washingtonville, NY; and son Matthew of Los Angeles, CA.

He is also survived by his sister, Jean Marie Clare of Franklin Lakes, NJ., brothers Jack Ebert of Bridgeport, VA.; and Edward Ebert of Berwyn, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to your choice Hospice of Orange/Sullivan County, 800 Stonybrook Ct. Newburgh NY 12550 or Safe Homes of Orange County, P.O. Box 649 Newburgh. A warm thank you to the care received from Hospice during the last few months.

Visitation will be on Monday, 3/28/11, from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Quigley Bros Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY 12520.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday, 3/29/11, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY . Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery- Cornwall NY.
