Frank J. McDonald of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into rest surrounded by his loving family on February 18, 2011. He was 90. Frank was born in Haverstraw, NY, to the late Frank and Mary Cullen McDonald.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Ann Michalak McDonald; his daughter, Patricia McDonald DiPofi and her husband, John, of Newburgh; granddaughter, Ann Marie Crea and her husband, Rocco, of Newburgh; grandson, Greg DiPofi and his significant other, Sueann, of Lagrangeville; great-grandchildren, Christine & Joseph Crea; nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was predeceased by his sister, Adelaide Lenhart.
Frank started his career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1946 as an agent. In 1948, he was promoted to assistant manager in Cohoes. In 1956, he was appointed field training supervisor in Buffalo, and then to Syracuse. He was promoted to district manager of the Newburgh region in 1960. Frank retired after 29 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1975. He started his second career in 1975 with Beacon Federal Savings as a professional retirement counselor for the Hudson Valley and Long Island divisions. He was elected Vice President of Beacon Federal in 1983. He retired from Beacon Federal Savings in 1986.
Frank was a longtime member of the Powelton Club in Newburgh, where he spent most of his retirement playing golf (Duffers league) and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a past president (1968) and 50-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday morning at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. Entombment will follow after the Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh.
