Obituaries: Emil E. Molly Casilli

December 21, 2010

Emil E. Molly Casilli of Cornwall-on-Hudson, a longtime area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at home. He was 93.

Son of the late Pasquale and Margaret Casilli, he was born October 7, 1917 in Manhattan. Emil will be joining his beloved wife of 64 years Lena, who predeceased him on December 1, 2010.

Emil proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-46 as a Corporal during World War II. During his service he participated in D-Day, 2nd Wave at Omaha Beach. After his service he became a carpenter with Union Local #19 in Newburgh, and became an active parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson for many, many years. In addition to his woodworking, Emil was a skilled pen and ink artist and enjoyed making things for family and friends. He was a man who took pleasure in the simple things in life; family, good food, his church, and the love of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Patrick Casilli and his wife, Cathleen, Emil Casilli and his wife, Cheryl, and Joseph Casilli; his sisters, Connie Trucchio and her husband, Chappy of Miami, FL, and Lena Castiglione of Staten Island; his beloved grandchildren, Sophia and Dominick Casilli and Katie Kenny; several nieces and nephews, who fondly referred to him as Uncle Mol. In addition to his wife, Lena, he was predeceased by his sisters, Christine Esposito and Mary Maitta.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 23, in St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
