Edward M. Rhodes, Sr., 88, of Cornwall, NY, died July 18, 2010 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall Campus, Cornwall, NY.
The son of Charles T. Rhodes and Mary Martha Senk Rhodes, he was born June 21, 1922 in Dover Plains, NY.
He was a retired sheet metal worker and Union Shop Stewart with Lightron Co., Cornwall-on-Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Tricarico Rhodes of Campbell Hall; son, Edward M. Rhodes Jr. and his wife, Susan of New Windsor; daughter, Maryann Shupinski and her husband, Robert of Cornwall; cousin, Barbara MacIssac of Pine Plains, NY; nephews, Charles V. Rhodes & his wife, Ann and Richard P. Rhodes; great-nephew, Matthew Rhodes & great-niece, Maribeth Rhodes, also his grand dogs: Lucky, Pookie, Sophia & Max. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles V. and Jacob Rhodes.
He served proudly in the U.S. Army Military Police as Sgt. from 1942-1945 in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m., today, Tuesday, July 20, at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 24, at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor with military honors.
