Thomas Newnham Murray, of Cornwall, NY, died on June 29, 2010, at the Elant Adult Home in Goshen, NY. He was 93 years old.
Murray was an educator, teacher, coach and administrator in New York and Vermont and also taught at New York Military Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. He had a BA from Middlebury College and a Masters of Education from the University of Vermont.
Born on September 9, 1916, in Johnstown, NY, the son of Thomas G. Murray and Katherine Newnham, he was married to Gertrude May Bittle Murray.
He is survived by his wife Gertrude May Bittle Murray of Goshen, a daughter, Martha M. LaVallee and her husband, Roderick, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, grandchildren Andre’ LaVallee and his wife, Rebeccca, Jennifer Wagner and her husband, Michael, Nicholas LaVallee and Stephen LaVallee, and great-grandchildren Catherine Wagner, Douglas Wagner and Lillian Wagner. He was predeceased by a daughter, Katherine Ann Murray.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Cornwall Presbyterian Church, 222 Hudson St.. Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520
