Robert J. Gosda, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh, NY. He was 70 years old.
Mr. Gosda was retired from Central Hudson Gas & Electric Co. in Newburgh, NY. He was born on April 1, 1940, in New York, NY, the son of Edward Joseph Place and Nellie Martin Place.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Conley Gosda, at home; two sons, Jeffrey Edward Gosda, of Portland, OR, and Stephen Robert Gosda and his wife, Amy, of the Town of Newburgh; sisters, Jane Gibbons, of Salisbury Mills, NY, Diana McKelvey and her husband, John, of Newburgh and Norma De Felice, of Wappinger Falls, NY; nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Tipper.
Gosda served in the US Air Force from 1958 to1962, was a 50-year member of Storm King Engine Co # 2, in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, the Orange County Fireman’s Association, the American Legion Post 353, in Cornwall, NY, a Life member of Black Rock Fish & Game Club, in Mountainville, NY, and a Quarter Century Club Member of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Co. in Newburgh NY.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph ‘s Catholic Church Union Ave and Rt. 9W, New Windsor, NY. Burial to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
