Obituaries: Bridget Kathleen McManus

Bridget Kathleen McManus, known to family and friends as “Doty,” died at home in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, on April 17, 2010, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with melonoma cancer .
Born in County Cavan, Ireland, on February 24, 1933, she moved to this country in 1960 and married the late Thomas McManus of Co. Fermanagh. They settled in Cornwall and raised four children in this beautiful community.
She is survived by her sister, Maureen Abernathy, of Queens, NY; her sons: Gerard, Sean and Thomas McManus, all of Cornwall-on-Hudson, daughter, Jacinta and her husband, John Winters, of Wallkill; three grandchildren: John, Christopher and Maggie Winters; and eight nieces and nephews.
Family Statement: Throughout our lives our mother gave us love, encouragement, guidance and support. She was a wonderful role model for us. The person we could always depend on and come home to. Our mother lived her life as God intended, filled with joy, friends and family. She never questioned or doubted but always believed in God’s love. She was a woman of great faith, courage, truth and strength. You will be greatly missed by our family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank hospice for its excellent care and support. A special thank you to Liz Whalen and Nancy Dwzick for their professionalism and compassion. We would also like to thank our many friends and family and kind caring neighbors, who not only enriched our mother’s life but provided great comfort to her during her sickness.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520. Mass will be 10 am, Thursday, April 22, 2010, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
