James G. Callahan, age 54 of Fairfield, CT, the beloved husband of Lisa Callahan, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 8, 2010. Born in Rockville Center, NY to the late John and Aileen Callahan, he was a Fairfield resident for over fourteen years.
Jim attended Cornwall High School in Cornwall-on-Hudson and received his BA in Management Science from SUNY Geneseo. He also achieved an MBA from Iona College. Jim was a computer sales manager and retired from IBM after thirty years of service. Following his retirement, Jim continued his work in the computer field for Agilysys, Inc.
Jim was a true family man and community leader. He was the Scout Master for Troop 10 of Fairfield and was a coach for many years with the Police Athletic League (PAL), Recreation and AAU basketball teams. He was also on the Board of Directors for the seventh grade boys division of the Fairfield County Basketball League. In his leisure time, Jim loved to golf. He was a longtime member of the Brownson Country Club in Huntington and was proud to have three hole-in-ones in a two week period.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving and devoted children, Katie, Caroline and Robert Callahan all of Fairfield. He will also be missed by his sister, Mary Ann Callahan and Peter Kennedy of New York City; three brothers, John Callahan, Jr. and his wife, Maggie of Charlotte, NC, Tom Callahan, Sr. and his wife, Dorothy of Olney, MD and Kevin Callahan and his wife, Anne of Temecula, CA. Jim also leaves two nephews, Tom Callahan, Jr. and his wife, Katie, Aidan Callahan; two nieces, Michele and Mairead Callahan; as well as one great-nephew, Tom "T.J." Callahan, III; and many loving in-laws and dear friends.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. directly at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Edward Duffy officiating. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the SHAUGHNESSEY BANKS FUNERAL HOME, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. Memorial donations may be made in Jim's honor to the Troop 10 Pop Haig Fund Camperships at 2475 Easton Tpke., Fairfield, CT 0682
