Obituaries: Mea Foschini Barclay

March 15, 2010

Mea Foschini Barclay passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mea grew up in Ossining, made her way to Orange County and thereafter called it home.

She was part of the local color and made many friends spending time watching NY sport teams and sharing thoughts of the day with friends. Whether in New York or in Rhode Island, she loved the atmosphere of a pub, especially after a long day at work or on the pond where she would monitor Donn's compliance with the clamming laws and vigilantly force him to throw the undersized back.

This simple desire for honesty and pursuit of that which is right manifested itself in her work and explains her thirty-two years of life dedicated to helping mentally challenged adults in her job with New Winds Opportunities in New Windsor. It also shined through when she spoke of the things she loved, especially as a proud mother of her two children, Amanda and Adam.

Mea was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees and football's N.Y. Giants. She and her husband, Donn, spent many a fall Sunday with family and friends attending Giant home games together. They also enjoyed traveling the countryside, often winning against the odds in local pools and in their antique shop finds. This carefree spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Donn and her two children, Amanda and Adam. She also has a father, Jose Ferrao, stepmother, Lourdes Ferrao and brother, Jose Ferrao, in Ossining, and a sister, Florinda Elder and brother–in-law, John in Port St. Lucie, FL.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. A time of remarks and remembrances will be at 8:30 p.m. the same evening.

Arrangements entrusted to Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, Inc. For directions to the funeral home, please visit www.quigleybros.com.
