Obituaries: Joseph M. Hines

June 28, 2009

Joseph M. Hines, age 74, of Cornwall, N.Y., passed away on June 28, 2009, at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh, N.Y. 

Joseph Hines retired  after 32 years as the superintendent of Public for Works for the town of Cornwall.  He also served as the past president of St. Thomas School Board and was a life member of Highland Engine Co # 1,  a past Chairman and Commissioner of Canterbury Fire District, an honorary member of Mountainville Engine Co #3,  the Orange County Highway Superintendent Association, and was  a former police officer with the Town of Cornwall.

Hines was born on May 26, 1935, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Joseph Martin Hines and Catherine Doyle Hines.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Manion Hines, at home; sons: Timothy Hines and his wife, Susan, of  Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.,  Patrick Hines and his wife, Diane, of Cornwall, Kevin Hines and his wife, Regina, of Cornwall, N.Y.;  daughters: Kathleen Katchman and her husband, Scot, of Slingerlands, N.Y.,  Maureen Belansky and her husband, John, of Cranbury, N.J.; sisters: Catherine McGinley and her husband, William, of Bayonne, N.J.;  and grandchildren: Sean, Michael, Erin, Ian, Kelly, Brian , Megan , Michelle, Danny, John, Colin, Justin , Stephanie  and Ryan.

Organizations:
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson NY 12520      
 
Funeral service will be an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on  Wednesday July 1, 2009 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-0n-Hudson, N.Y.   Cemetery/ Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery,  Cornwall NY
