HHNM 50 Year Celebration



Hudson Highlands Nature Museum: Celebrates 50 Years and Honors Hudson Valley Environmental Advocates at Champagne Brunch and Silent Auction

The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary at a Champagne Brunch at the beautiful Powelton Club in Newburgh  on Sunday, November 15, at 12 noon.  The event will honor Ned and Tara Sullivan w ho  have spent much of their working lives ensuring people will always be able to enjoy the Hudson Valley’s magnificent natural resources.  Currently Ned Sullivan is president of Scenic Hudson, the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley , while Tara  Sullivan is  overseeing New York ’s yearlong celebration of four centuries of history as e xecutive director of the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial.    Senator Charles E. Schumer and Congressman Maurice Hinchey are the honorary chairs of this mid-day celebration that will combine friends, food and drinks with placing silent bids on fabulous goods and services.

Intriguing one-of-a-kind items will be available at a Silent Auction to benefit the Museum's environmental education programs.  Among the items up for bid are: a week stay in Orlando, a long weekend at an Adirondack cabin, an insiders' tour of Sothebys, a special guided tour of the new American Wing of the Met, Sports and Broadway Theatre Tickets and  two late night options  - tickets to Conan O'Brian and an evening "Owl Prowl" for 20 friends with one of the Museum's lead educators.  Jewelry, gourmet baskets, art work and so much more will also be offered; all donated by Hudson Valley merchants and Museum friends. Tickets are $75 per person and funds will help support the Museum’s mission of creating responsible caretakers of the environment.
