Obituaries: Obituary: Genevieve Kramer
September 03, 2008
Genevieve Kramer, 79, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. entered into rest on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 peacefully at her home, after a long illness.
She was born February 17, 1929, in Manhattan, the second daughter of Michael and Mary Harmon.
She graduated from Cathedral High School in New York. After graduation, worked at the phone company, then at the Post Office for 17 years. She married James P. Darby and had seven children.
They separated and divorced. After 15 years she married Walter Kramer, who, as a truck driver for Pandick Press made deliveries to the Post Office where she worked. They traveled all over the world on vacations. After Walter died, she moved to Cornwall-on-Hudson N.Y.
She learned to drive and to swim at age 40 and continued reading and learning every day of her life. She passed these loves on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the world is a better place for her having been here. She was an avid garage-sale attendee. She also enjoyed card games, and bingo with her friends at the Cornwall Seniors Center.
She suffered the loss of eldest son, James, in 2004 and son, Kevin, in May of this year. She is survived by brother Frank Harmon in Los Angeles, sister Anne Toomey in Bronxville, sons Dan in Cornwall, Joe in Ellenville, and daughters Genevieve in Newburgh N.Y., Eileen in Cornwall-on-Hudson N.Y., and Theresa in Hewitt, N.J. She loved seven Grandchildren and two most adorable great-grandchildren.
The family extends profound gratitude to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, and especially to Misty and Peg, caring nurses of the highest caliber.
The family will welcome friends at the Quigley Bros Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008.
Cremains interment will be at the family’s convenience at Washington Cemetery in Paramus, N.J.
Heavenly Father, please welcome her with your eternal love
