Leonard Mortimer (knickname: Pop Pop), age 73, died at St. Luke’s Cornwall hospital in Newburgh, N.Y. on April 15, 2008. He was a resident of New Windsor, N.Y. and was the husband of Carolyn Cempa Mortimer.
Mortimer was a retired insurance agent with Equitable Life in N.Y., N.Y. He was born in Port Washington, N.Y., the son of Edmund Mortimer & Anna Jones Mortimer.
He was a loving husband, wonderful father and fantastic grandfather. Len leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn, of 41 years, his daughter, Joy Dolan, and her husband, Kevin, a son, Thomas, and his wife, Shakila, and five grandchildren: Michelle, Christopher, Kevin, Emily and James as well as by his beloved dog “Barney”.
He was a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. and was a devoted Yankee and Rangers fan.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18, 2008 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on- Hudson, N.Y. Burial will follow the Mass in Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor NY
