PROCLAMATION OF LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY
PURSUANT TO $24 OF THE EXECUTIVE LAW
OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK
WHEREAS, the Town Supervisor, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Cornwall, is empowered to proclaim a local state of emergency within the unincorporated area of
the Town of Cornwall pursuant to the provisions of Section 24 of the New York State Executive
Law for a period of up to thirty (30) days; and
WHEREAS, the Town is currently experiencing unusually heavy rainfall which has
resulted in flood conditions on public roadways and private property in some areas of the Town
of Cornwall; and
WHEREAS, to protect the public safety and preserve private property it is or may be
necessary for the Town to take immediate actions to abate flooding conditions and divert the
flow of the stromwater to protect the public;
WHEREAS, the said flooding constitutes an accident or unforeseen occurrence requiring
immediate action to protect public property, health and safety;
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me as Supervisor of the
Town of Cornwall and pursuant to Section 24 of the Executive Law of the State of New York, I
do hereby proclaim that the state of emergency established on July 9, 2023 which shall continue until August 8, 2023, unless a proclamation lifting the state of emergency is issued at an earlier
date.
