On Tuesday evening, December 10, 2019, at approximately 11:21pm, Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department along with units from the Town of Cornwall Police Department and Town of New Windsor Police Department, responded to a report of a possible robbery in progress at the DB Mart Store, #374 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., involving a firearm.
Upon further investigation it was discovered that a 15 year old male, Orange County resident, walked into the DB Mart Store and displayed what appeared to be a revolver at the store clerk demanding cash, the store clerk was on the other side of the counter and attempted grab the the revolver from the Respondent at which time a struggle ensued and the male clerk was pulled over the counter by the Respondent and the struggle continued on the floor area of the store.
When police arrived on scene the Respondent willingly gave up and was immediately taken into police custody. The store clerk sustained injuries to his right hand area as a result of the altercation.
The revolver that was recovered from the incident was a replica/ antique revolver.
The male Respondent was subsequently charged with: Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree (2 counts), Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree and Attempted Grand Larceny 4th Degree.
The male Respondent was subsequently turned over to the custody of his parents and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Orange County Family Court/ Probation.
