Assemblyman Colin Schmitt Secures $13,000 Grant for The Cornwall Public Library
Assemblyman Colin Schmitt Secures $13,000 Grant for The Cornwall Public Library
October 01, 2019

Cornwall, NY -- (09/23/19) Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R,C,I- New Windsor) is proud to deliver critical funding to the Cornwall Public Library for technology updates and expanded children’s safety measures.

Several months ago, Charlotte Dunaief, Director of the Cornwall Public Library, reached out to Assemblyman Schmitts office expressing a serious need for updated technology to support children’s learning as well as a critical funding need for safety precautions in
the library.

Currently, the Cornwall Public Library does not have an AED defibrillator with a children’s attachment on-site. Assemblyman Schmitt was able to deliver the necessary funding so the Cornwall Public Library can install an AED with a children’s attachment directly in the
youth department of the library.

In addition to the new safety upgrades to the library, Assemblyman Schmitt was able to deliver the necessary funding to purchase 10 brand new ipads for the children’s area and install various charging stations. The current technology used for children’s learning
in the Cornwall Library is over 7 years old.

Assemblyman Schmitt has been a strong supporter of increased library funding. This grant follows $90,500 that was recently awarded to the Cornwall Public Library in construction grant money. Schmitt also helped secure an additional $34 million this year in state library
construction grant aid.

Assemblyman Colin Schmitt stated, “I am proud to deliver $13,000
to the Cornwall Public Library to support their mission to provide a safer and more modernized environment for our children and the community as a whole. The funds provided will go directly to the youth department in the library to update the technology and
expand safety measures. This is a critical investment in the future of the community and our children. I am proud to support all libraries in my district and look forward to visiting the Cornwall Public Library again after the new updates have been made.”

Charlotte Dunaief, Director of the Cornwall Public Library stated, “I'd like to thank Assemblyman Colin Schmitt for securing this grant money to provide critical technology updates to our youth department. We are so grateful for his strong support, accessibility and responsiveness to our needs and priorities. The Cornwall Public
Library is looking forward to being able to provide a safer and updated learning environment to the children in our community thanks to Assemblyman Schmitt!”

Joe Dvash, President, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce stated,
“I’d like to thank Assemblyman Schmitt for his continued commitment to the Cornwall community. We are thankful for his leadership and providing the Cornwall Public Library with this grant!”

Helen Bunt,Town of Cornwall Deputy Supervisor stated, “We
are grateful to Assemblyman Schmitt for his support of the Cornwall community. The Cornwall Public Library is used as a community gathering place for families in the area and it is so important to have elected leaders who support our libraries.”
