Hertha S. Kirwan, of Montrose, NY formally of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2018 at New York State Veterans Home at Montrose, Montrose, NY. She was 92 years old.
One of seven daughters of the late Joseph and Mina (Zubiller) Schifferstein, Hertha was born on April 10, 1925 in Ramsen, West Germany.
Hertha was a retired Chef at the Braden’s Prep School in Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. She was a former member of the Cornwall Garden Club, Cornwall Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Canterbury Presbyterian Church.
She was known for her industrious and independent personality. Her solution to every problem was “Where there is a will there is a way!” She had great love for the garden, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hertha was predeceased by her loving husband Lawrence P. Kirwan. She is survived by her sons: Lawrence P. Kirwan (Sandra) of Milford, PA and Christopher J. Kirwan (Emily) of Cornwall, NY; her grandchildren: Joseph Kirwan (Erin), Jessica (Kirwan) Swain (Patrick), Sage Kirwan, Michaela Kirwan and Colt Kirwan; and great grandchildren: Emma, Aubrey, Clayton, Olivia, and Jacob.
Per her wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
