Obituaries: Perry Staples

January 15, 2017

 Perry Staples, of Cornwall, NY passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2017 in Mamakating, NY. He was 66 years old.

The son of John V. and Carmela Leone Staples of New Windsor, Perry was born on October 24, 1950 in Newburgh, NY.

Perry graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1968 where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Karen Satterly Staples, who lives in Cornwall.

Perry worked as a Journeyman wireman with I.B.E.W. Local #363 in Harriman, NY. He loved his work and his “Brothers” he met all over the country. Perry loved the outdoors and was a life member of Black Rock Fish and Game Club. Most of all, he loved his family. His favorite people call him Papa.

In addition to his loving wife, Karen and his parents; Perry is survived by; his son, Andrew Perry Staples, Jr. of Rome, NY; his daughter, Leah Staples Roth and his daughter-in-law Rachael Miller–Staples, both of Salisbury Mills, NY; grandchildren, Karl and Erik Roth, Madison Staples and Sara, Kaitlyn and James McDermott.; his brother, J. Peter Staples and wife Marcia of Portland, OR; his sisters, Alice Staples and husband Dan of Ashland, NH and Ann Staples of Fairbanks, AK. Perry will also be greatly missed by his father-in-law, Bill Satterly, brother-in-law Donald Satterly and wife Sharon, sister-in-law Faye Satterly and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 16th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, January 17th at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 1520 Jackson Avenue, New Windsor, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy or The National Park Foundation.
