Obituaries: Paul A. Moccio

October 10, 2016

Paul A. Moccio, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on October 6, 2016 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill, NY. He was 65 years old.

The son of the late Anthony Moccio and the late Jeanne Moccio Bednarczyk, Paul was born on November 28, 1950 in Mount Vernon, NY.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College and
his Master’s degree in Marine Biology from Long Island University at C.W. Post. Paul was an Ichthyologist and a Laboratory Supervisor. He was retired after working for over 40 years for an environmental engineering firm in Rockland County.

He was an active member of the American Fisheries Society and other conservation groups. Paul had several scientific papers published, two of which he presented at the American Fisheries Society conferences, in Seattle, WA and Pittsburgh, PA. Paul was a member of the Beta Sigma Fraternity.

Paul was an environmentalist, educator, and humanitarian. He was kind, intelligent, and funny. Everyone who knew him loved him. Paul was a great family man and great friend. He would always be willing to help anyone who was in need. Paul was an avid sports fan who loved the Dodgers, the Rangers, and the Browns. He loved the Olympics, both summer and winter. Paul also liked to collect sports memorabilia.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Susan Brandau Moccio, at home; his son, Philip A. Moccio of Jersey City, NJ; his daughter, Lauren E. Moccio, at home; his brother, John Moccio; and his sister, Carol Krass (Charles) both of Florida; his nieces Colette D’Antona-Consolazio (Samuel) of Mt. Laurel, NJ; Colleen Cordaro (Jeremy) of Toms River, NJ; and nephew Thomas Krass (Mariah) of Magnolia, Delaware; his great-nephew Benjamin Consolazio; and many cousins and friends.
