Albert Louis Longinott
(May 9, 1930 - December 29, 2015)
Albert Longinott, age 85, life-long resident of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Dec. 29, 2015 surrounded by his family. “Al” was born on May 9, 1930 at home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Al met his love, “Betty” Goodman in 1953 and they were married in May 1955. Betty and Al celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a party given by their children last May. Cornwall was always home to Al and Betty and their children Karen, David, Michael and Joel.
Al proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Cape Cod and Niagara Falls. Al left an indelible mark on many hearts but also across the landscape of Orange County. Owner and then partners with his sons of Longinott Construction, Al built many buildings, homes and barns in the area. His legacy is the work ethic and carpentry skills he taught his children and grandchildren.
Al is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Cornwall; daughter Karen Schoen of Otisville; son David and wife Christina of New Windsor; son Joel and wife Laura of Wallkill: two sisters, Jane Deans of Cornwall and Joanne Armstrong of Niagara Falls. He was predeceased by his son Michael. Al was blessed with eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Steven, Christopher, McKenna, Andrea, Jason, Evan and Jessie and five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Alexis, Krystal, Joscelynn and Kylie.
Visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Sunday Jan. 3 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, Jan. 4 at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh. Interment will be private at a later date.
