Obituaries: Theodore F. King

November 23, 2015

July 25, 1928 - November 20, 2015

Cornwall, NY

Theodore F. King, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2015 at home with his loving wife Mary at his side. He was 87 years old.

The son of Charles J. King and Louise H. Heller King, Theodore was born on July 25, 1928 in Merrick, NY.

Theodore graduated from Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY in 1947. He was self-employed at T&M King Associates, but worked for many years as a food broker for John Harrison & Co., in Greenwich, CT.

He was an active member of the St. Thomas of Canterbury RC parish in Cornwall, NY. Ted and Mary were blessed to support life by coordinating the St. Thomas Respect Life Committee for many years.

A family statement reads: "Dad and Mom had a love and marriage that was so beautiful to behold every day. She was his Queen and he was her King. He loved all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren unconditionally as each one was a special gift from God.

In his younger years, Dad loved to golf and play softball for the semi-pro Merrick (Long Island) Rangers and enjoyed the NY Rangers, NY Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals. Mom said he was a cowboy at heart as he loved western movies and the author Zane Grey very much. We will all miss him but know he is at peace in the arms of Our Lord Jesus.

Theodore is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Settanni King, Charles and Kyoko King, Chris and Donna King, Paul King, Louise and David Carnright, Elizabeth and George Ewanich, Ted King and his fiance, Darlene Veitenheimer, Damian and Jean King, his son-in-law, Steve Scalzo, Frances Parisi and her fiance, John Favella, Eileen and Phil Kamrass, and 45+ grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughters: Margaret Mary King Scalzo and Mary Antoinette King. He was also predeceased by all of his ten brothers and sisters, as he was the last surviving sibling of the King family.

We would like to thank all that gave us so much help with Dad in his later years; especially the Conley, Preiss, Pirraglia, Hahn, and Strickland families, Henry Sowoska, The St. Thomas Mother's Prayer Group, Dr. George, and all the nurses from Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25th at the St. Thomas of Canterbury Church; Father Vondras will officiate. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Sisters Of Life, 38 Montebello Rd., Suffern, NY 10901 or to Hospice of Orange County.

Arrangements are by Richard J. Sullivan and Kevin Quigley of Quigley Bros. Funeral Home; to send condolences or to get directions to the funeral home, please go to www.Quigleybros.com
