On Thursday, January 29, 2015, Paul W Sebesta, Jr. of Cornwall entered into eternal life at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. He was 81 years old. The son of the late Paul P. and Mary (Danko) Sebesta, Paul was born on February 2, 1933 in Newburgh, NY.
Paul was previously employed by Bearse Mfg.; Cornwall Central Schools and Town of Cornwall crossing guard. Paul honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a long time member of Highland Engine Co. #1 and the oldest, longest serving acolyte of St. John's Episcopal Church. Paul will always be remembered as "The Mayor of Willow and Main."
His family will forever miss their "Pop" but shall cherish the memories of family vacations to Florida, Lake George and camping at the Neversink River Campgrounds where he liked to hog the fire, even on hot summer days.
Paul was a loving, devoted and proud husband, father and grandfather.
Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Margaret "Peggy" Conley Sebesta; his daughters: Patricia Bates (Kenny) of New Windsor, Carmen Jimenez (Bobby) of Sanford, FL, Paula Sebesta of Cornwall, and Kristen Sebesta-Boyle (Jack) of Cornwall-On-Hudson; his sons: James Sebesta (Karin) of Cornwall, and Paul G Sebesta (Linda) of Deltona, FL; his grandchildren: Raymond and Tyler Sebesta, Eddie, Lesia and Robert Jimenez, Jennifer and Sean Boyle, Paul and Joey Sebesta, Brian, Kenny & Cobey Bates, and his grandpuppy, Liberty as well as 13 great grandchildren; sister, Louise Post and brothers: Ignatious, William, Harold, Michael and Joey Sebesta. Paul also has many nieces and nephews.
Paul is predeceased by his sister, Pauline Angelone and brother, Francis Sebesta.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial with Military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 5 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Hazen St., Cornwall. Suzanne Toro will officiate.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church or Grace Community Church, Deacon Fund.
