We need more swans. They are a natural goose repellent. My farmer friend says that when there is a large flock of swans the geese stay away. Perhaps we could take up a collection to get 3 or 4 more pairs. They cost several hundred dollars a pair. And I guess that 8 swans produce much less poo than 30+ geese
Maybe we could host a dinner and serve roast goose to raise money to buy more swans
As far as the dogs; Our old dog was very obedient, well trained enough so that when you called he came-always. The two we have now are screwheads, so they don't get off the lead in a populated area.

Dear Lefty,
I know my golden retriever would take off after any birds at the pond (and then go for a muddy dip afterward), but I worry about the swans. I don't know about you, but I was so sad when I drove by the pond and saw only one swan. Thanks to Annette Boyle and Dick Randazzo, we have a happy couple of beautiful swans living there now. Maybe Annette can put them inside for an hour and we can let the dogs do their thing? Better yet....is there a breed of dog that goes after unruly teenagers and lets the good ones be?

Have you taken your 2 year-old to the River Park, or the Town Park for that matter, and let them run and tumble on the grass? Probably not, if you saw all of the droppings from the geese. So what to do? One suggestion is for the Village and Town to join together in the purchase of a border collie, and have the Town's Animal Control officer care for, feed and run the dog at the 2 parks, at least twice a day. Anyone have any other ideas?
